All organizing is science fiction. We are shaping the future we long for and have not yet experienced.

I am a native Washingtonian. My people are African Americans from southeast DC. I have five sisters, who are my heart and soul. In my work I strive for purpose and service, and I joined iF because I believe we can make a difference in the lives of Black people who struggle. These are the people I fight for every day. When I am with them, I am reminded of and amazed by the resilience of the human spirit.

I come from the trade winds, the salt, kuleana and acceptance. My people are humble. I am part of iF because the community knows best what it needs, and our greatest service is to invest in its leadership. In my work, I strive to understand what's come before. I love when my kids laugh and forget themselves.

I was born in DC, but spent a significant amount of my formative years in the hills of West Virginia in a family with very little means. But, everyone had a giving spirit, even if it meant taking food off their own table. This is the legacy that I pass on to my children. I am part of iF because we live and breathe our values through non-traditional, community-led philanthropy. In my work I strive to build organizational capacity to enable the realization of an organization’s vision and mission. I love to dance. It’s good for my soul.

My people are descendants of Africa who cultivated and labored on the lands of the first city of Georgia—Savannah, where I was born. I joined iF because I believe that this organization can help many communities, if not the nation. I am excited about the social emotional development of young people. I work with them every day. It is an honor to serve others and to see those who are positively affected pass it forward.

I am from Ama, Louisiana, a small village on the Mississippi River about 25 miles west of New Orleans. My people are working- and middle-class African Americans who are deeply religious and believe strongly in family and community. iF inspires me to use my talents and time to make this world better for all people. I love and cannot get enough of the time I get to spend with my husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends.

I am from Copan, the Mayan area of Honduras in Central America. My people are the peasant-indigenous Lencas, women and LGBTQ Latino immigrants in the US. I believe that other worlds are possible, free from racist and class patriarchy. This is why I am on the board of iF. In my work I strive to eradicate any form of violence against women and children. I love being politically organized, following the young rebel that still exists in me and defending Madre Tierra.

I am from a white, middle class, college educated family in Southwestern Ohio. My people are seekers and helpers, both in my birth and chosen family. This is my nineth year at iF, and it’s because of our commitment to solutions. I have been blessed and changed by the relationships built here. In my work I strive for connections that are human and healthy and opportunity for those who have been systematically excluded. I love the laughter of my wife and children.

Aydin Tuncer (he/his)

I am from many different places, primarily Maryland but my roots are in Kansas and Turkey. My people are a diverse, international and caring group. I am part of iF because I believe in the organization's vision to make our world a fairer more equitable place for Black people and people of the global majority. In my work I help make my clients' goals and dreams come true. I am married to Beatriz Tuncer and we have two daughters, Gabriela (18) and Sophia (16).

I was born and raised in Washington, DC and I am a proud Muslim American. I love being able to fellowship with people who are in the business of helping people. In my work I strive to bring about housing justice to long-term DC residents who suffer economic discrimination when they try to acquire affordable and accessible housing. I am amazed by the remarkable people at iF and their willingness to fight for racial and economic justice.

Brian Vo (he/his)

I am from a family of immigrants who sacrificed for me to have opportunities that they did not. My people are refugees of war who leave home for the promise of a better tomorrow. I am a part of iF because at the heart of equity and justice are systems of power, which won't change themselves. In my work I strive to use the tools that have historically excluded marginalized communities to create and protect their wealth instead. I am amazed by the simplicity of joy in my kids and wonder what our world could look like if we remembered that as adults. I love to dance to a good beat, but at some point, I went from "hips don't lie" to “Cocomelon."

Mindelyn Anderson (she/her)

I am from California, the Bay Area. My people are believers and educators, enslaved people and people who owned land, folks who fled to preserve their lives, and legacy leaders. I am a part of iF because we turn possibilities into realities, collectively – iF you can dream it, we can build it! In my work, I strive to create pathways for impactful change by making data accessible and transformative, guiding clients from insight to action. I am amazed at how my four children view the world – coloring outside the lines and making their own rules.
